More Than a Bridge – A link to Heat Transfer!
A thermal bridge is a connection between two walls that allows heat to flow through. Often, thermal bridges are located in hard-to-reach areas, resulting in an insulation breach that causes significant heat loss.
All together, the air leaks in a house can be like having a 10″ x 10″ hole in the wall!
The new standards of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) specify that owners are required to close off thermal bridges with a continuous insulation material that has a value of R-4.
